On Wednesday night, we met up with our friend Ryan O’Connell at Café Kestrel in Red Hook.

Café Kestrel is such a cozy spot. It was our second time there: I snagged this reservation because they just started Wednesday night service. It was the perfect place to go to commiserate after the trauma of Tuesday night.
Their salad was a work of art… studies in pink and orange.

My lamb chops were cooked to perfection and the eggplant that came with it was spicccy:

But the best part was the dessert. We ordered the apple sundae like last time, which has apple butter in it; but the warm chocolate cake tasted like sex on a plate:

I can’t even describe what you’re looking at. A saucer of chocolate sauce with a gooey warm chocolate cake and créme anglaise on top? It was impossible not to make a mess. Maybe that was the point?
