Roman’s

[From the 4/11/24 newsletter]

Let me tell you about our 18th anniversary dinner at Roman’s.

Yes, it’s true, on April 8th, 2006, Craig and I went on first date to Lucien in the East Village. Now it’s 18 years later and we’re still going strong. We decided to celebrate that fact with lots of meat and carbs at the cozy spot in Fort Greene.

Here’s the antipasto platter that we shared to start:

Mortadella is having a moment (it’s the thin lacy bologna looking stuff on the left and upper parts of the plate) and I can see why: it’s like a thin blanket of porky fat that you can drape over crusty bread.

We also shared a salad that was so crisp and refreshing, I would take a cooking class just to learn how they made it.

For my entree, I had the orecchiette with anchovies and broccoli:

For dessert, we shared the olive oil cake with an apple compote:

A lovely end to a terrific meal. Now where will we go on our 36th?
